Fornace Brioni has mixed clay and water by hand for over 100 years, telling stories that speak of simplicity and character. No individual tile will ever be identical to another. A repeated material revelation, every time the fired pieces are removed from the kiln.
We made a daring wager. To activate experimentation far from the static tenets of history and tradition, through an erudite, daring exploration of a material as old as mankind: terracotta. To conceptualize ornamentation, to recover stylemes and details belonging to the history of architecture, to study the harmonies of the earth, to work on various scales, daring to defy established canons. Finding the right balance between nostalgia and innovative design.
Our work. We have introduced new collections that take their places alongside the traditional formats, with a precise identification of groups in which they belong, all with their own specific cultural reference points: ‘Giardino all'Italiana’, ‘Topiaria’, ‘Gonzaga’, ‘Giardino delle Delizie’ and ‘Scenografica’.
The creation of the catalogue through the formulation of an evocative range of imagery, the design of the spaces of the company to more effectively communicate the production and process that form its foundations, are the result of a contemporary vision of an ancient product.
In the installation for FuoriSalone 2019, the cotto facings were enhanced and framed, enclosed in a setting that suggested an empirical and visionary work of architecture.
