Belle-épine cushion 2020 — Maison Matisse Cushion in precious fabric.
The furniture in the Intérieur aux Aubergines collection, inspired by the eponymous painting by Henri Matisse (1911), is accompanied by a series of decorative objects designed by Cristina Celestino. The Belle épine cushion uses the lampas with the all-over pattern featured on the furniture: armchair, sofa, and folding screen. The flounce adds an idea of femininity and intimacy that is reflected in the pattern's organic shapes. The lampas features the pears and foliage painted by Henri Matisse, presented on a graphic grid. The fabric used for the cushions was made from natural yarns by a renowned Venetian factory that dates back to the 18th century.
