The Tennis Club Milano Bonacossa, an architectural gem designed by Giovanni Muzio in 1923, has become the backdrop for a new project unveiled during MDW 23. This project, which commenced in 2018 with Tram Corallo, followed by Caffè Concerto Cucchi in 2019 and Florilegio in 2022, aims to offer a captivating and transformative experience by shedding light on Milan's hidden and iconic locations, forging unexpected connections between them.
Through the simplification of the existing architectural language, Cristina staged a role-play, overturning the perception of indoor spaces and generating a chromatic connection with the outdoors.
Drawing inspiration from Muzio's affinity for geometric relationships, the project's defining feature lies in the interplay between lines and semicircles, seamlessly integrating the curated objects within the space. The materials used throughout are not mere adornments but rather integral components that contribute to the project's essence.
Engaging in detailed graphic rigor, the new flooring becomes a reference for the red clay courts, emphasizing the rich decorations of the original marble flooring. Furniture elements are arranged according to an out-of-scale logic, generating a new perspective order, that seeks to generate new identities and focus, thus pursuing Muzio's long yearning for asymmetry.
