The topiary art, or Ars Topiaria in Latin, is an age-old gardening technique that consists in pruning hedges or the foliage of trees to create shapes and geometric forms, altering the natural appearance of plants for ornamental purposes. The results are an exceptional blend of nature and geometry. The items have been created for use both indoors and outdoors. The idea of bringing the warm material allure of cotto into interiors for floors and facings, meets with another application in these pots.
Observing the “Topiaria” composition, it is clear that it has been designed to bring the monumental character and rigor, but also the metaphysical, dreamy atmosphere of the classical garden, into contemporary interiors. The material is cotto, with a range of monochrome versions in pink, white and moka, combined with two variegated cotto surfaces. The game of geometric forms and colors allows to create infinite configurations.
The pots are crafted by hand by Fornace Brioni, using molds, in a procedure that involves the pressing of various clay mixtures. The variegated pieces, the mixtures are applied by hand, giving each pot a unique two-tones texture.
