Avino
Avino is a collection of rugs designed for cc-tapis, as a natural continuation of the bespoke rugs designed for the Palazzo Avino. In 2020 Cristina Celestino reimagined and redesigned the rooms and suites for the iconic hotel which included custom textile projects, taking their cue from the wonders of the Italian gardens of Ravello, and the odyssey of forgotten legends of the Tyrrhenian Sea. From this imagery, she designed a collection of custom rugs created by cc-tapis PROJECT, the contract sector of cc-tapis. Each rug was produced with special custom sizes, the designs being adapted to the scale and specification of each room or suite.
In 2021 Cristina Celestino presents 5 new designs in standard sizes, adapted and developed with cc-tapis to be included in their permanent collection. A collection which is produced by hand in Nepal using linen, wool and pure silk. The rugs feature monochromatic geometries and patterns, oversized floral designs from indigenous Mediterranean flora such as pomegranate fruit, citrus trees and asphodel flowers. The fresh designs draw inspiration from the colours and natural elements of the Amalfi Coast
Plissé
Giving the impression of folded and pleated fabric, Plissé’s soft and elegant design gives a playful nod to the world of scenography. The delicate movement in the design reveals hints of pure silk in the lining of the layered fabrics, evoking the trompe l’oeil spirit of Roberta di Camerino’s iconic designs from the 1950s. A three-dimensional mirage is created through artisanal dying methods where 3 base colors are meticulously applied to achieve 23 shades of color. Each layer of the design has a special pile height, shaved by hand, reinforcing the illusion of the unforeseen.Envolé
Envolée takes inspiration from one of the most delicate architectures present in nature: the wings of a butterfly. Observed under a microscope, their beauty is so sophisticated that it defies every type of description. They are ephemeral structures, characterized by iridescent, hypnotic and marvelous scales. The wings of lepidopteran butterflies look like brushstrokes, like paintings in motion. The elegance of their composition, under an attentive eye, has the consistency of a fabric. A consideration which lead Cristina Celestino to translate that which is not visibile to the naked eye into a macro scale. The decorative motif is thus revealed by the alternation of chromatic compositions defined by different material densities, from wool to linen. A rhythm that is translated into a full and vibrant texture, playing on the characteristics of the individual materials and on the varying pile-heights used.Browse more
